Yes, one can make money from day trading with a rider that one must follow a disciplined approach and follow stop loss religiously.

Another thing to keep in mind is that one should not become a compulsive trader and should not construe day trading similar to gambling and must resort to trading with informed mind.

Following the tips is an art and one must find a stockguru and thus learn to trade with the style. However one must use the discretion to understand the fact that tips provider is not providing the biased tips which can benefit him.
