1. In times of recession one can have a varied style of investment and same can fall in the category as listed below:
(a) Growth investing: One is looking for the exponential growing stocks and is looking for the sunrise industries. However one may have to wait for a longer duration to accrue the returns. Moreover the risk is high as one is betting on the high growth of the stock.

(b) Value investing: One is trying to invest in those stocks which have been announced as dead stocks by the market and thus these are available at cheap price. One has to again wait for long time till the hidden value of the stock is found by the market.

(c) Income investing: One is buying high dividend paying stocks and one may not see much fluctuation in these stock prices. These are low risk low returns stocks; but it provides a regular stream of income.

2. One has to jut determine the type of the investor category and thereafter invest accordingly in the market.
